Reading Ambassadors

Reading Ambassadors

At Branston Church of England Infant Academy, we have six fabulous Reading Ambassadors.  Their role within school is to be a good reading role model, encourage other children to read and promote a love of reading around school. There are two children from each of the Key Stage 1 classes who have volunteered to take on this important job due to their own love of reading.

The Reading Ambassadors help with all jobs that are reading related in school. They look after the reading corners and library, suggest new books that they would like to see in school and promote reading for pleasure not only in their own class but throughout the whole school community.  Reading Ambassadors share their love of reading by reading with other children or recommending books that they have already read.

Each week, we hold a weekly vote between two books which the children would like to hear read aloud by Mrs Cook in Collective Worship. These books often reflect a topical issue or world event. The children vote with gold coins and the votes are then counted to reveal the winner. The Reading Ambassadors help with this weekly vote by sometimes suggesting stories that should be put into the draw and counting the coins so that Mrs Cook knows which book has won!

Our Reading Ambassadors play a vital role in making reading the heart of our school and our curriculum.
