Branston Church of England Infant Academy
'The Best We Can Be'
Little Troopers
Branston Infants is extremely proud to support Forces Families. We strive to make children from Forces Families feel settled and understand the emotions involved with being part of the Military. Deployments and mobility within the forces may make children feel unsettled and anxious. We aim to support and celebrate service children’s experiences and highlight the resilience and positive influence they have on schools.
Within Branston Infants, we have a ‘Little Troopers’ club who meet fortnightly. The forces children in this group get together and take part in engaging activities. Some of the activities include, taking part in Armistice Day services, the month of the military child and VIP visits. During the end of each term we take part in a ‘Dining in’ event. This is when the children enjoy their lunch together in style.
We have a teacher in school, who runs Little Troopers. Miss Heald was raised in a Forces family and has experience of living life as a military child. Please do get in touch with Miss Heald or Miss Cook should you have any questions and let us know of any planned deployments.
Events
We have recently taken part in the Festival of Friends, a school funded project that supports forces children. It is an event funded by the Armed Forces Education Trust, with an aim to develop and showcase good practice within a schools’ provision, for Forces children. At Branston Infants, we demonstrated the ways we support children and received excellent feedback and praise.

Parent and Pupil Voice.
Little Troopers has been really valuable for our daughter, providing a supportive group which understands the unique challenges of military life, especially moving homes and parental absence. It has been wonderful for her to have this community of Military children to share their experience and know she is part of a larger and wider military family’.

It’s fun. I like looking at pictures of the Trooper teacher’s Daddy in the RAF. I show pictures of my Daddy’s planes on the board. We learn about everyone’s Daddies and Mummies in the Forces’.
